NHS member re-appointed

Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Cities Strategy, Alex Neil, today announced the reappointment of a Member to Forth Valley NHS Board.
Forth Valley NHS Board is responsible for the strategic planning of health services and the development of measures to improve the health of the community in the Forth Valley region.
James King – is a Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) qualified accountant who brings to the board 13 years experience in local government with Glasgow and Falkirk Councils and 20 years with Royal Mail Group where he was Finance Director for Scotland and Northern Ireland and latterly General Manager of the Post Office network. James also brings to the board a particular interest and experience in Performance Management and Change Management.
This re-appointment will be for four years and will run from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2017.
This re-appointment is part-time and attracts a remuneration of £8,008 for a time commitment of eight hours per week.
James King is a Member of the Accounts Commission for Scotland for which he receives a remuneration of £6000 per annum, and also a Member of NHS National Services Scotland Board for which he receives a remuneration of £8,008 per annum.
This reappointment is regulated by the Public Appointments Commissioner for Scotland.
All re-appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the re-appointment process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public. James King has not had any political activity in the last five years.
