TOPIC: Reports show impressive savings in fuel costs.

Reports show impressive savings in fuel costs. 1 year, 2 months ago #1

With the bombardment of petrol based fuel additives on the market could this green fuel conditioner be the answer to our financial and ecological issues? Reports from a School Bus company and an Oil Rig Company in the United States showed savings of between 6% & 13.6%. Could we benefit this on this side of the Atlantic?

Julian, could you explain this green fuel conditioner you mention as I have not heard of it and also explain both the reports you highlight?

Hi Scott, the fuel conditioner is ecoSpark (E-C). It’s derived from vegetables as opposed to being fossil fuel based like most other conditioners or additives on the market. It improves the combustion of the fuel, increasing the amount of fuel burnt in the chamber and improving the power output. It’s been used in stateside for a number of years with great results. The two reports mentioned showed reduced emissions and increased performance. The Oil Rig Company used the conditioner on two of their generators and compared the results against a third generator that was left untreated. One generator improved by 13.6%.

Hi in your experience are savings of 13% + exceptional or is this a realistic saving you could expect to make?

Hi Ron, 13.6% is on the higher side with 10% being the more typical result. Keep in mind that a 5% saving will give a 2:1 return on investment. The level of the savings is of course dependent on a few factors. The type, age and condition of the engine as well as the quality of the fuel are all variants that need to be taken into account. Is the application for a generator, road vehicle engine or maritime engine? The other point that needs to be made is the level of reduction in emissions which has a good impact on the carbon footprint.
