There are 26m homes and 1.8m non-domestic buildings in the UK, responsible for over 40% of our overall energy consumption. Heating and hot water provision accounts for 85% of this. Is there too much focus on new build (e.g. zero carbon homes) when the greater impact can be achieved from retro-fitting energy efficiency measures in existing buildings?

The Green Deal has had a slow uptake, and while domestic RHI is yet to go live, commercial RHI has been in operation since November 2011 with modest success (over £15m paid out since launch). These are effectively tiny ripples in an enormous pond… how can industry help accelerate uptake?
