Employees that stay healthy and take regular exercise are much more productive in the workplace, one expert has claimed

Kevin Friery, clinical director at Right Management Workplace Wellness, believes that a healthy employee that is motivated will work at over 90 per cent productivity.

He went on to say that a demotivated, unhealthy employee will rarely achieve more than 50 per cent of their workload.

"An employer who understands this and approaches it strategically will achieve an 80 per cent productivity boost without any additional recruitment. People who live well and work well achieve more - it is as simple as that," Mr Friery explained.

Research published in the Journal of Applied Psychology recently found that employees who exercise are less likely to experience depression and burnout at work.It was published at a time when a Speechly Bircham and King's College London study revealed workers in the UK are more stressed than ever.
